Ah...wintertime. It's cold out, and there's nothing to do, right? WRONG! In Wisconsin, we try to make wintertime the best of times for youth and young adults.
First of all, don't miss our annual Conference Youth Rally: Pieces of Purpose, coming up this weekend at Wisconsin Academy. Our speaker, Pastor Jon Remitera, is coming to us from EPIC Church in Chicago and is excited to share about how you can fit into God's plan for your life. You'll also get the chance to meet up with lots of young people from around the state, play fun games, play with legos, and eat delicious food. It's a FREE event...why wouldn't you be there?
Next, for the dudes, Men's Retreat is coming up the very next weekend at Camp Wakonda. The cost is $75/person, but you get $5 off for every new attendee you bring. This year, you won't want to miss testimonies from our speakers, Kory and Kelly Frantz, two brothers who are IronMan racers and have seen God help them do things they never thought were possible. Attendees range in age, but there's a great cohort of young guys who attend every year. You'll enjoy a warm time connecting with other guys, in our camp lodges, with a laid-back schedule that lends to exploring the natural Wisconsin beauty in winter, as well as some games for team building and connecting with friends. The deadline to register for this event is this coming Sunday, so there's still time! Register HERE.
For Pathfinders, winter is chock full of exciting times! Area PBE (Pathfinder Bible Experience) is coming up February 1 (contact your Area Coordinators for various locations), Conference PBE is coming up March 1 at Wisconsin Academy, and Union PBE follows on March 29 in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Our teams of Pathfinders are hard at work studying scripture right now, and we can't wait for their efforts to pay off in these exciting events. Not to mention that February 7-9 is Pathfinder Winter Retreat at Camp Wakonda. Attendees will be piloting exciting new Chemistry Honors with speaker Ryan Hayes, as well as enjoying fun winter activities around the camp, and participating in the Pinewood Derby competition with cars they have designed. Don't forget: every Pathfinder has the opportunity to design the Spring Fair patch, and those submissions are due at Winter Retreat.
Wisconsin Young Adults don't want to miss out on the winter fun either, and so local leader Slava has organized a lock-in event February 1-2 at the Shepherd's House Church in Wausau, called Mind Matters. They'll meet at 5:00pm in the church's gym for games, discussions on managing mental health as young Christians (led by Pastor Zack), good food, and the option for staying the night and fun off-campus activities the next morning. You can register for the event HERE. There is also a Young Adult weekend being planned at the La Crosse Church for March 28-29. Contact Pastor Pedro Luis for more information and to join in on the camaraderie!
Finally, Global Youth Day is March 15. This isn't an event with a specific gathering place, but rather an opportunity for young people around the world (and even around Wisconsin) to join efforts in their local communities and be a blessing. For those in the Milwaukee area, our Hispanic youth have for years gathered to have a weekend of encouraging preaching and doing projects around the city to spread Jesus' love. But if you're not in the area, or your church or Pathfinder Club or youth group wants to do something positive to be a blessing to those in your area, we are encouraging you to do so on this day, alongside young Adventists globally. When you do, let Pastor Zack know about it and share pictures, so our department can pass along the awesome things our Wisconsin Youth do to impact their neighbors for Jesus.
Winter Blues? More like Winter Good News! We're excited for all these events coming up and we can't wait to see you there!
